Great seats, crappy VIP
My friend and I are huge Little Stranger fans, while I am a big Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas fan. This event was perfect for us. We opted for the Rob Thomas VIP tickets. A few days prior to the show, we were instructed to meet our VIP coordinator Josh at the box office at 4 pm. Excited, we arrived on time at 4 pm along with many others, only to be disappointed. We stood in the hot sun for an hour without any water. Eventually, they organized us to scan our tickets, followed by another waiting period. After around 20 minutes, we were moved to a new line to collect our VIP passes, then back into the shade. The "VIP experience" left much to be desired. The food was average, consisting of dry pulled pork sandwiches, cheese dip, chips, pretzel balls with mustard, chicken wings, and a veggie tray. The first drink was complimentary, a nice touch, but that was the highlight. The tent was meant to be air-conditioned, but it felt warm unless you were near the air source. One interesting aspect was the Rob Thomas hologram karaoke machine, where you could appear to sing with him. They sent the video to your email. That was pretty much it. I learned my lesson. Next time, I would pay for regular seats and consider arriving later for the VIP experience or skipping it altogether.
